Ideas for Leadership Volunteering Activities

I’m really passionate about the Make-A-Wish Foundation and I have visited the office and attended Wish Granter training. Unfortunately, I’m not old enough to be a Wish Granter. However, I still want to be involved and my dad wants me to do something that would fall under “leadership” to look good on my college app. I was thinking about being on an event committee, organizing a fundraiser, and/or being a public speaker. Would this be leadership? Do you have any other ideas that would include Make-A-Wish?
A great leader has many followers and the followers will follow him wherever he may go.
His followers will respect and obey him.
A leader will care for his followers
Who do you recognize as a great leader today? Why? What qualities of leadership do you think they possess? Answers needed by 1730 hours 4-30-2007.
I’ve sunk into this shy/quiet personality as an adult where I was outspoken as a child. Now however i’ve been put into a leadership role based on my knowledge but I don’t know how to take the lead or initiative in some situations or I may think I don’t have the confidence I need and think I’ll screw something up. At one point I was outspoken and broke out of my shell. How do I get bk to that place and become leader material?
When the time comes, if it is to be, you will lead.
The website of my local branch of “Occupy” boasted that they don’t have a leader. But I think that’s a major problem, their ideas go every which way, and there are no solid goals. Or is that not why they haven’t made a big impact? Should rejection of leadership be one of their creeds?
In the light of the events in Israel with the Jewish only state and leadership, Hamas Islamic leadership, Iranian Islamic leadership, and the French royalty who had lead as well as being at the head of the Church in France, and the papal states who had lead with inquisitions across europe.
Is therefore mixing religion with leadership a dangerous thing to do?
Yes it is. Bush said he was guided by god, and look at the mess he caused. The US, despite denying, makes sure the president is always a devout christian. There is no separation of church and state in the US.
Leaders should be able to make rational decisions, without being affected, as they are, by whatever religious doctrines they subscribe to.
How is someone called to leadership (in the Catholic Church)? How could someone meet this call? How could someone participate in the call to bring about the “Kingdom of God” on Earth? What could someone learn about leadership, especially from a Salesian perspective? (Salesian basically means engaging in missionary and educational work) Stories and examples are welcomed! Thanks for your feedback!!
What did you guys do to torque off your Catechism teacher? This is the second religious ed. question I’ve seen in five minutes. In any event, here ya go:

Most of what you need to do your own homework is in there.
Edit:
And you can find a lot of info about the Salesains here:

You might have to dig a little and draw your own conclusions, but thinking for yourself is a good thing.
You are faced with an emergency/disaster, say a “Katrina” type of hurricane, what leadership traits do you want from a leader in such a situation? Thanks…
My main recollection of Katrina was 800 school buses flooded out at $50,000 to $60,000 each to replace.
Those buses should have been moved to higher ground. Since so many people were poor & didn’t have transportation out of the area, the buses should have been filled to capacity before they headed to the high ground.
I was not in New Orleans. But my understanding of disasters leads me to believe that the feds (read taxpayers) pay to replace these destroyed buses, just because someone in charge was to incompetent or ignorant or both to give the order. There was substantial warning to allow for this.
A leader may have to give an unpopular order, but then that is what leaders have to do on occasion. Leaders must be able to keep their heads as everyone around them is losing theirs.
-The ability to elicit a high level of performance from a diverse group of people.
-The ability to delegate effectively while still maintaining a top-level view of projects and programs that need to be accomplished.
-The ability to get work done through others on time, in budget
-The ability to respond to change and stay calm in a crisis
-The ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
-The ability to help set goals for your department and your employees as well as for yourself.
-The ability to train employees and work with them to develop their career path and skills
-The ability to stay sane while doing all of the above.
Welcome to the wonderful world of management…..hold on tight, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride….
None whatsoever unless it’s aligned with your major and career goals. Grad schools wont give a damn about clubs and that nonsense. It’s all about your grades and research experience that you have racked up. MBA programs will care about the professional job position you obtained after undergrad.
A. Leaders were drawn from the scholar-gentry class.
B. The mongols recognized two royal families, and all leaders were the oldest males of the lineages.
C. Mongols leadership was based on patrilineal descent from the Kuriltai tribe
D. Mongols often recognized the leadership of females who traced their descent from female deities.
E. Leaders were elected by free males and held office for as long as they could keep it.
All my friends have some kind of leadership in our college, whether it be that they are on the exec board of their club or they are the president. I am involved in a lot of different activities, but I don’t have any leadership positions. I’m involved, but I’m not the best at everything I’m in. And I feel like even if I run for something, I won’t get it. What should I do?
I am working in a firm for a few years. Now I am looking forward for getting promoted as Supervisor. What are the leadership skills required?
Not sure about this, i guess c
